The Invitation 2022 Ending Explained

What purpose did Evie have at the wedding?

There are three families that assist Walter by giving him with women. These families are the Billingtons, the Klopstocks, and the Alexanders. Because of the wives, Walter is able to give the three families with wealth and position for all of eternity. As a result, the families are completely reliant on him for their continued existence. It seems as though Walter has a very strong connection to the number three, which may be a reference to the novel "Dracula" and the significance of the number within that text.

Lucy is a member of the Billington family, while Viktoria and Emmaline both hail from the Klopstock family and the Alexander family, respectively. During the time that Emmaline was having an affair with Evie's great-grandfather, Walter came very close to becoming her husband. Walter's wives take a taste of his blood during their wedding ceremonies in order to achieve immortality, a glacial rate of ageing, incredible strength, and speed. Viktoria and Walter had been married for the previous 500 years, while Lucy and Walter had been married for the previous 100 years. If Walter passes away, they will be deprived of the abilities they learned from him.

Emmaline, who was known to be defiant, was opposed to Walter's practises from the very beginning. She eventually committed suicide as a result of becoming fed up with the life she was made to live against her will.

After Emmaline passed away, Walter's relationship with the Alexanders became strained, and they jumped at the chance to put Evie up as a replacement for her own grandmother, as his wife, after discovering her through Evie's attempt to learn more about her ancestors. This caused Walter's marriage to Emmaline to be annulled. Oliver was given the responsibility of bringing Evie to the wedding so that the Alexanders might avert this catastrophe.

The Invitation (2022) Movie Ending, Explained:

During the ceremony, Evie comes to the realisation that the only way for her to free herself from her captors is to marry Walter so that she might obtain his powers. After that, she sets fire to the altar, stabs Walter in the heart, which causes him to immediately begin ageing but does not cause his death, and then she runs away with the maid, Dea.

Lucy, fed up with Viktoria's aggressive behaviour, steps in to defend Evie when the latter confronts her. Lucy is frustrated by Viktoria's tendency to take charge. In the subsequent combat between Lucy and Viktoria, Lucy ends up impaling both of her opponents, resulting in their deaths. After this, Evie kills Mr. Fields, the racist butler of Walter's house, who admits to killing Evie's great-grandfather after discovering his affair with Emmaline. Evie does this because Mr. Fields was responsible for the death of Evie's great-grandfather. She then tosses him into the fire that she had set at the altar and that was now burning throughout his home when an elderly Walter arrives to murder Evie. Because of this, she is driven to seek revenge for the deaths of her grandparents.

After Walter's passing, Evie is no longer able to maintain her status as a vampire, and she reverts back to her human form. As the episode comes to a close, Evie and Grace wait for Oliver outside of his office so that they can take revenge on him for what he has done to Evie.
