The Hyundai Veloster is a compact sports car first produced in 2011 by the Hyundai Motor Company, with sales beginning in South Korea in March 10, 2011 and in the United States since the fall of 2011. It is the first of Hyundai's new Premium Youth Lab sub-brand, which is targeted for the young generation of drivers. It was unveiled on January 10, 2011, at the Detroit auto show, and fills the void left when Hyundai discontinued the Tiburon after the 2008 model year.
The car's lines are bold and dynamic. The hexagonal
radiator grill and audacious lamp design express progression and modernity.
While the unique 1+2 door configuration maximises practicality, the sleek coupe
profile conveys sportiness and a unique styling very different from existing
coupes and hatchbacks.

With sales exceeding that of the Honda CR-Z and Scion tC, the Hyundai Veloster has proven a hit with consumers thus far. But critics haven’t been as excited about the quirky hatch, due to its sluggish powerplant and unsettled dynamics—and Hyundai’s answer comes in form of the 2013 Veloster Turbo. Sporting a 1.6-liter boosted Gamma four-cylinder engine, it produces 201 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 194 ft-lbs of torque at 1,750 rpm. Its bump in power comes with added weight, tipping the scales at 2800 lbs for the manual transmission trim.
